Causes of cancer

HPV is a common infection. For most people it doesn't cause any problems, but some types of the virus can increase cancer risk.

HPV vaccination protects against HPV, the virus that causes almost all cases of cervical cancer and some other cancers.

H. pylori is a type of bacteria that can increase the risk of cancer, especially stomach cancer.

Some infections increase the risk of cancer, including EBV, HIV, hepatitis B and C, and certain parasites.
